[PODCAST] Bartering During The Zombie Apocalypse
Currency will pretty much be irrelivant during the zombie apocalypse. But instead, bartering will be the main form of 'currency'.
Anything can be bartered; one mans trash is another mans treasure.
However, there will be certain things that are bartered the most, such as:
Gas
Food
Clean Water
Ammunition
First aid supplies
Outside of that, what else could you barter?

I agree with you 100% on the ass holes that want to “barter” women. Just because it’s an apocalypse doesn’t mean it’s the 11th century. Those kinds of “men,” if you want to call them that, should not be allowed to survive. Keep up the awesome pod casts, and I also appreciate the feedback you give on facebook and the forums (I must admit it’s my first time posting here though). Thanks again,

Hi Victoria! I know us strong women are few and far between (the strong women numbers grow by the day, but still not as many as I would hope to see). Men treat women as if they’re objects and I get heated when I hear men talk about women as if they can just be traded or used as they so please. As you said, “those kind of men” won’t last long in an apocalyptic world, no when there’s strong women like us around! :) Glad to hear your voice in the community and good to know you’re at least out there. :) Stay safe!
You could trade knowledge like some how to books, the location of a large horde of zombies, new faster ways to do things, or other forms of knowledge, I also think those kinds of guys are jerks, idiots and low life’s and they shouldn’t get to live normal society. And the world needs more strong women.
Another item that may be thought important enough to barter might be stationery items such as journals, pens, & pencils. Small tubes of oil paints or crayons can be used to mark territory or making maps. I’ve always been a survivor. If I can help my brothers and sisters in ZRT, I will call it a Great Day!!

I agree with all points you made in the podcast. I do think acknowledging that human trafficking and other really unsavory human activities will be taking place wholesale is important and necessary. Without any “government” anarchy always seems to bring out the worst in people. Conjecture maybe, but valid still when looking at recent events.
I’d like to add a possible item for barter though. I’ve had this discussion among fellow zombie enthusiasts before and it remains relatively undecided, but… Precious metals and jewelry anyone? Yes paper money will become valueless, but what about gold and silver bullion and similar jewelry? Given its not a necessary survival item, but it is still a universally measurable form of wealth, is it not?
At least something to mull over.
